Breaking Bad: How I Overcame Common Dog Behavior Issues

As a Black Russian Terrier, I've faced my fair share of behavior issues like chewing, barking, and separation anxiety. But with the help of my pawrents and some training, I've been able to overcome these problems. In this post, I'll be sharing my personal experience and what has worked for me in overcoming common behavior issues in dogs.

Chewing

Chewing is a natural behavior for dogs and it's important for them to have something to chew on. However, it can become a problem when they start chewing on things they shouldn't, like shoes or furniture. To overcome this issue, it's important to provide your dog with appropriate toys and chews. My pawrents also made sure to puppy proof the house so that I wouldn't be able to access anything that I shouldn't. They also supervised me when I was left alone to ensure that I wouldn't start chewing on things I wasn't supposed to.

Barking

Barking is a natural form of communication for dogs, but it can become a problem when it becomes excessive or disruptive. To overcome this issue, it's important to understand why your dog is barking in the first place. For me, I was barking because I was anxious and wanted attention. My pawrents worked with me to address my anxiety and provide me with plenty of attention and exercise. They also used positive reinforcement training to teach me when it was appropriate to bark and when it wasn't.

Separation Anxiety

Separation anxiety is a common behavior issue in dogs and it can be difficult to overcome. For me, my pawrents helped me overcome my separation anxiety by gradually increasing the amount of time I was left alone. They also made sure to give me plenty of exercise and mental stimulation before leaving me alone so that I would be tired and less likely to become anxious. They also left me with toys and chews to keep me occupied while they were gone.

In conclusion, it's important to understand the reasons behind your dog's behavior issues and to work with a professional trainer if needed. My personal experience has shown that positive reinforcement training and plenty of exercise and mental stimulation can help dogs overcome common behavior issues.

Best woofs,
Boris the Black Russian Terrier
